MARI LOBO
My work lives at the intersection of design, illustration, character, and storytelling

Hi! I’m Mari Lobo, a Brazilian-American designer and illustrator based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My work lives at the intersection of design, illustration, character, and storytelling. Over the years, I’ve worked across toy design, children’s publishing, visual development, and entertainment, bringing characters and ideas from early concepts all the way through finished products.
I spent more than four years as a Toy Designer at Super7, where I designed over 100 collectible figures across a wide range of entertainment properties. My experience includes concept development, character design, turnarounds, color and paint specifications, production artwork, and collaborating through the development and manufacturing process.
As an illustrator, I’ve worked extensively in children’s publishing, creating books and artwork for clients including Scholastic, National Geographic Kids, and other publishers. More recently, I worked with Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, contributing to the Peanuts creative team across consumer products, illustration, and brand artwork.
I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, where I earned my B.A. in Industrial Design, and later moved to California to earn my MFA in Visual Development from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
I’m especially drawn to work that combines strong visual storytelling with thoughtful design—whether that means developing a character, designing a physical product, building a visual world, or finding a simple and appealing solution to a complicated creative problem.
I’m currently open to full-time, contract, and freelance opportunities in the Bay Area and beyond.
Let’s make something great.
